Ultrasound Biometry

> Ultrasound Biometry

This procedure is also used for calculating the artificial lens before cataract surgery. In ultrasound biometry, the eye is measured using an ultrasound method.

Before the examination, the eye is numbed with eye drops. A special thin ultrasound probe is held directly on the cornea of the eye. So that the device can measure exactly the distance between the corneal surface and the retina, the patient must look as straight ahead as possible. The calculation of the artificial eye lens is then made on the basis of the mean value.
