Eye Check-up (Augen-Check-up) · Preventive care for self-paying patients

Seeing well does not mean: healthy eyes.

Many changes in the eye develop slowly and without pain. The eye check-up at Augenland shows you how your eyes are doing, examined and assessed by our ophthalmologists.

Why regularly?

Eye diseases often give no warning.

Visual acuity usually changes so gradually that you hardly notice it yourself. Seeing clearly therefore says nothing about whether your eyes are healthy.

With glaucoma (Grüner Star), for example, the field of vision slowly becomes smaller. This loss cannot be reversed. Detected early, many eye diseases can be treated more effectively.

Why at an eye clinic?

Examined, assessed and discussed in one place.

Assessment by specialists

The retina examination and the assessment of your results are carried out by our ophthalmologists.

Retina examined with dilated pupils

We dilate your pupils with eye drops. This allows a thorough examination of the back of the eye.

Everything under one roof

If anything is noticed, further examinations and, if necessary, treatment are available directly at Augenland.

Tailored to you

Your doctor focuses the examination on your symptoms and questions.

Packages & Prices

Three packages. Each one builds on the previous one.

The eye check-up is a self-pay service. We are happy to discuss which package makes sense for you.

Book an appointment

Online, by phone or via WhatsApp, and choose the package that suits you.

02

Measurements

Refraction, eye pressure and visual acuity, depending on the package supplemented by visual field test, OCT, Pentacam, endothelial cell count and wavefront analysis (Aberrometrie).

03

Retina examination

After your pupils have been dilated, your doctor examines the back of your eye.

04

Results & report

We discuss your results with you. You receive a written report (Befund) with explanations of what the values mean.

Understanding your results

What does your report say?

After the check-up you receive a written report (Befund) in German. Here we explain the terms and values. Each value is assessed by your doctor, always in the context of all examination results.

No abnormal findings (Unauffällig)

No abnormalities were found.

Further examination with us (Weitere Untersuchung bei uns)

We will examine this finding further at Augenland and discuss the next steps with you.

Visual acuity (Visus)

Basis

Shows how sharply you see, measured without correction (sc) and with glasses or contact lenses (cc). A visual acuity of 1.0 corresponds to 100 % sharpness of vision.

How it appears in your report: R sc 0,8 · cc 1,0 (example)

Refraction

Basis

The automatic measurement (autorefractometer) objectively determines whether you have a refractive error.

  • sph (sphere) in dioptres: minus values indicate short-sightedness, plus values indicate long-sightedness.
  • cyl (cylinder): indicates astigmatism (Hornhautverkrümmung).
  • A (axis): the orientation of the astigmatism in degrees (0–180°).
How it appears in your report: sph −1,75 · cyl −0,25 · A 46° (example)

Eye pressure

Basis

The pressure inside the eye, given in mmHg. The measurement is an important part of glaucoma screening.

Back of the eye

Basis

With dilated pupils, your doctor assesses the optic nerve, the centre of the retina (macula) and the retinal blood vessels. Your report contains an assessment for each area and each eye.

Visual field

Plus

The visual field is the area you can see without moving your eyes. The test checks this area for each eye.

OCT of the retina

Plus

Optical coherence tomography creates high-resolution cross-sectional images of the retina without contact.

Pentacam

Premium

A rotating camera measures the front of the eye without contact, including the thickness and curvature of the cornea and the depth of the anterior chamber. Corneal thickness is given in your report in micrometres (µm).

Endothelial cells

Premium

The endothelium is the innermost cell layer of the cornea. The measurement shows the structure and density of these cells without contact, given in cells per mm².

Wavefront analysis (Aberrometrie)

Premium

Measures the optical imperfections of the entire eye, including those that go beyond an ordinary refractive error.
