Preventive Examinations (eye examinations)

> Preventive Examinations (eye examinations)

Regular eye examinations are often perceived as unnecessary until no problems and complaints occur.

According to estimates by the Professional Association of Ophthalmologists, about 300,000 traffic accidents per year are caused by poor eyesight—did you know that?

While cars must regularly be presented to the TÜV by law, many people neglect the check-up at the ophthalmologist, although 90% of all sensory impressions are perceived with the eye. In doing so, most people are not even aware of their visual impairment, since in most cases visual acuity changes only slowly.

Clear seeing does not prove the health of the eye.

More than just a simple vision test is a thorough eye examination, which also brings many advantages.

As part of the preliminary examinations, the eyes are examined for a number of diseases.

As a result, diseases can be recognized earlier and are thus better to treat.

The change in visual strength can lead to headaches; therefore, as a spectacle wearer, you should have your glasses strength checked 1–2 times a year.
For example, to rule out glaucoma, a regular intraocular pressure check should take place from the age of 40.
Once a year, from the age of 60, you should have your eyes examined to be able to rule out cataract and macular degeneration.
Cancer screening is very important for the eyes, in order to recognize and treat tumors in the area of the eyelids and choroid at an asymptomatic stage early on.

The most precious thing we possess is our eyes!
