Ophthalmological examination for driving and control activities

It is particularly important for employees who operate motorcycles, trucks, tractors, cars, buses, industrial trucks, rail vehicles, hoists, forklifts, earth-moving machines or similar machines.

During the examination, twilight vision, eye alignment, color vision, visual field, and central visual acuity are checked.

Such an examination should be carried out every three years.

In the examination, an assessment is required that focuses particularly on spatial vision and visual acuity.

Here, the experience and special expertise of the ophthalmologist are called for!

Especially spatial vision is highly relevant to safety when operating cranes, work machines, and forklifts.

If red weakness is suspected, an examination with the anomaloscope is performed. The anomaloscope measures the anomaly quotient. If this is below 0.5, it means that the red weakness is so pronounced that it is not permissible in the workplace.

For the examination of twilight vision, too, an assessment that relates to the workplace is important. In the examination of twilight vision, for example, it is checked how the eyes react to rapidly changing lighting conditions and floodlights.

In many cases, it is possible to achieve sufficient visual acuity with an appropriate visual aid. This is noted accordingly in the certificate.

The examination is charged at €165 at Augenland Frankfurt.
